Christmas Hygge with Glögg

Christmas Hygge with Glögg

Hej!

The winters in Scandinavia are long and dark, so the people there are naturally experts in creating cozy settings inside their homes with candles, mulled wine (Glögg) and other delicacies…

It is tradition to invite friends over for a cup of Glögg and some pepparkakor (Ginger Thin cookies). This is called “Glöggmingel”.

Well at our last Glöggmingel I made a bit more food than just pepparkakor… 😉

Do you want to try to make your own Glögg? It is easy! Here is a basic recipe (but I encourage you to experiment to find your own personal favourite):

Redwine Glögg

1 bottle of red wine (low quality is fine)

1-2 sticks of cinnamon

around 15 cloves

some orange peel

5 cardamom pods

1 dl sugar (or more or less depending on your taste)

1 dl vodka (amount also up to you;-)

Heat all the ingredients but do not boil. Serve with flaked almond and raisins.

Skal!

P:S: If you don’t like vodka you can use rum or cognac instead.

Your Glögg is ready!

Kram

Jenny
